Quality Assurance Programs

Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, HPRAC has the duty to provide advice to the Minister on "matters concerning the quality assurance programs undertaken by Colleges". 

Most recently HPRAC included advice concerning the purpose and nature of quality assurance programs in its New Directions report of April, 2006.  Much of this advice has been incorporated into Bill 171, the Health System Improvements Act, 2006, which passed the Ontario Legislature in June, 2007.

Patient Relations Programs

It is the Advisory Council's duty, under the RHPA, to monitor each College's Patient Relations program and to advise the Minister about its effectiveness. 

HPRAC presented an initial report to the Minister in 2001.  It is currently undertaking an evaluation of patient relations programs, beginning with an assessment of the current status of College's programs to determine how Colleges have progressed since the 2001 report.  In August 2007, HPRAC released three documents: "An Overview of Patient Relations Programs", "Common Elements of Patient Relations Programs", and "HPRAC's Monitoring Mandate".
