On June 27, 2014 HPRAC concluded its work on this referral by delivering its report to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Diagnostic Sonography: Recommendations for Regulation under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991. HPRAC's reports are confidential until released by the Minister.
On August 24, 2015, the Minister publicly released the report.
The Minister of Health and Long-Term Care has requested that HPRAC "review issues relating to the regulation of chiropody and podiatry and provide advice as to whether and how there should be changes to existing legislation regarding these related professions". Council was asked to include "an analysis of the current model of foot care in Ontario, issues regarding restricted titles, and whether the existing limitations on the podiatrist class of members should continue."
In spring 2014, HPRAC held a public consultation session on the model of foot care in Ontario. Subsequently, HPRAC invited the College of Chiropodists of Ontario (the Applicant) to complete an application for a scope of practice review and respond to additional questions relating to the regulation of chiropody and podiatry in Ontario. The Applicant's submission is now available for review.
HPRAC recently sought input on the regulation of chiropody & podiatry in Ontario and the applicant's submission. Stakeholders had a two-week period in which to comment on the submissions received. This comment period ended on April 22, 2015.
On Dec. 20, 2013, HPRAC concluded its work on this referral by delivering its report to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Hon. Deb.
